In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson made a declaration later adopted by the isolationist America First Committee, calling for non-intervention in foreign wars. That non-interventionist policy caused the US to be surprised by Germany’s attacks in Europe and Japan’s aggression in the Far East. It left America unprepared for the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. So, on December 7, 1941, the US was forced to join World War II unprepared.
In today’s climate about taking care of America’s needs first, CFNS defines “America First” according to the Declaration of Independence that calls for the government to protect the “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness” of all its citizens, as our guide.
To enable the protection of Life we should:
1. Properly fund the military so we can confront our Chinese, Russian, and Iranian enemies simultaneously. Increase national security spending by $200 billion.
2. Accelerate annual defense spending from 4% to 10%, and fix the recruitment deficit.
3. Forbid woke policies in the military.
4. Accelerate military innovation and weapons production, both defensive and offensive.
5. Properly fund local police.
6. Defund the UN and its corrupt agencies.
7. Deport 15 million illegal migrants.
8. Close the Northern and Southern borders.
9. Oppose Democrat-sponsored infanticide (third-semester abortion).
10. Encourage regime change in Islamist regimes, such as Iran and Qatar.
To enable the protection of Liberty, we should:
1. Protect Freedom of speech, the right to bear arms, and federalism, as guaranteed in the Bill of Rights.
2. Encourage universal school choice, on a state level.
3. Protect Jews & Christians, domestically and abroad.
4. Reform the evil foreign ideologies that permeate public schools and universities.
5. Encourage electoral reform, state by state, to upgrade integrity.
6. Properly manage a cultural war by outlawing: CRT, CGT, DEI, ESG, and antisemitism.
Some segments of the population and their politicians might prefer an isolationist “America First”. Others, like Save the West, prefer a safe, prosperous America, with a proper mix of short-term and long-term strategies to protect the people and make life difficult for our enemies.
The US government is responsible for protecting our country for now and future generations from all enemies, foreign and domestic. After all, our key adversaries are dictatorships with long-term planning, who are determined to undermine and eventually take over democratic countries.
In contrast, democracies are usually short-term-oriented, as many voters seek instant gratification. The best US leaders must provide for both the population’s short-term desires and the country’s long-term needs. Otherwise, we can fall into the tragedies of Pearl Harbor and 9/11. We have had enough of short-term thinking!
To enable the pursuit of Happiness, we should:
1. Cut regulations whenever reasonable and possible.
2. Cut the annual budget deficit from $2 trillion to a maximum of $1 trillion.
3. Repeal 100% of Biden’s executive orders.
4. Develop all forms of energy.
5. Incentivize traditional marriage and family formation through education and tax incentives.
6. Cut the capital gains tax rate to 5% for bold investors who take the extra risk of investing in venture capital funds.
7. Target an annual GDP growth of 3-4%.
8. Remove the tax-exempt status of politically oriented NGOs and colleges.
A proper America First policy would protect current and future generations by combining sensible short-term and long-term strategies to ensure the protection of the American people and the country’s traditional values.
